November 1, the Day of National Enlighteners, was a holiday. It is one of the 8 official holidays of Bulgaria. For the schools and universities it was a day off. On this day we recognize those who helped cultivate Bulgarian national conscience. They were the intellectuals who worked hard to revive the self-confidence and the Bulgarian conscience of the people who had been for 5 hundred years under Ottoman yoke. The week 31October-Novembver 6, 2005, we participated in a few cultural events in Sofia. One of them was the first issue of National Geographic Bulgaria.
